The Cubs Magic Number is down to 2. Two!

9-18 Win over the Brewers

It’s good to see Derrek Lee in the spotlight tonight. In my opinion, he’s a role model in every sense of the word and we Cubs fans are extremely lucky to have a guy as classy and well-rounded as Lee. He follows in the tradition of amazing Cubs leaders like Sandberg, Maddox, Banks, Santo, and Williams.

Geovany Soto is bringing my faith back to baseball. He’s stunning out there! I always admired the catchers on my team, particularly Josh Cooksey stands out. It takes guts to be back there making the calls, and you typically are under the shadow of the pitcher. Soto is commanding, confident and looks like a veteran out there.  I liked Ted Lilly’s quote from the Jeff Passan article that argues Soto will be the NL rookie of the year.

“You can go over scouting reports, but as the game progresses, things change and you have to make adjustments, and Geo has a good feel for that. I’ve been around guys with lots more experience than him and not nearly as much feel.”
