The other day, I was trying a new version of some popular desktop Twitter software at the office while I was working on an Indiana Web design project at work. I loaded up a newer feature that allows you to receive your Facebook Friends’ status in an updated stream. Lo and behold as the first update appear on the screen, the top update is from my wife! It said something to the effect of “sad because I think I lost my phone ” I Immediately called her number and my mom picked up; she had visited my parents house earlier in the day. While on the phone with my mom I used TweetDeck’s Facebook Chat feature to let her know that I located her phone and that she could go get it any time. From posting on Facebook, we managed to locate her phone in less than 3 minutes!

So, don’t let anyone tell you otherwise: Social Media works!

Of couse now that I published my wife’s privitely-guarded FB status to the world she can sue me for all I’m woth but that’s another story…
