Because of my deep roots to Muncie and East-Central Indiana, I still run into people who have questions such as
“Where do you work now?”
“Are you still working at that music place?”
“So you’re a project Manager- what is that exactly?”
I work at Fusework Studios (FWS) which is a part of the Rutter Communication Network. Another company called Rutter Media was the long time Cable Advertising mecca of our region, and had offices in several states at the peak of operations. RM was recently sold to Comcast, not to be confused with our everlasting parent company RCN which still exists. OK, enough with the begets…
If you want the official version of what we do, click on the link above. My single-phrase description on the business is that we’re good at developing relationships, we’re great at getting to know businesses and markets, and we’re experts at Marketing, especially in New Media formats. We mostly use what is known as Permission Marketing by leveraging technology such as social media, blogs, Web search engines, etc.
As a Project Manager I oversee our marketing efforts, be it Web development or a site re-design, Internet Marketing strategy, Video Production, etc. Since we’re an “idea company” we pride ourselves on being able to jump in to a consulting role at just about any level, whether a company organization has an established brand or needs help defining what they do to the world.
Other than the people (which is really what makes any job exciting, bearable, or excruciating; in this case exciting) what I really enjoy most so far is developing strong relationships with our clients and educating those clients to acheive success. Our sales team does a great job of finding clients who can benefit from our strengths. As we learn more and more about a business and peel back all of the layers, we’re able to use the fine tooth comb to use the current strengths as starting points and make recommendations for how to improve marketing strategies through the variety of services that we offer.
I was hoping to post by this time about a very exciting project that was to be completed in January, but since plans change I will post about it on the official launch date of February 19th.
